A Rampant Rash

She wasn’t spectacularly beautiful but she was so beautiful to me it left me breathless. Soon after meeting her I became a poet. An out-of-control poet. Hour after hour I wrote wonderful lines and words of love. It was like having a rampant rash which itched out of control. After creating over one hundred of these quotations I felt I had the ability to rival Keats, Milton or even old Shakespeare himself. It wasn’t long before we left for a European holiday and we were never so rapturously in love as we were in Paris. I considered asking her to marry me after we had dinner on the Champs Elysees but Paris is so romantic that it is almost a cliché, so with grim determination I controlled myself and let the moment fade.

I considered asking her to marry me after we had dinner on the Champs Elysees but Paris is so romantic that it is almost a cliché, so with grim determination I controlled myself and let the moment fade.

Marry me”, I quietly asked as the sky purpled and the rose coloured waves crashed. My heart was exploding as she tenderly looked at me. “And perhaps we could be married right here?” I added.“Well,” she gently said, “we’re a long way from civilization, there’s the tropical heat and humidity and my hair goes flat so I don’t think so.There’s also the small insignificant problem that I’m already married.” All in all, I took this as a “No!” And now I have one hundred and seventy quotations that I want to dispose of in a hurry. Would anyone like to make me a financial offer as they could be used for birthday cards or something similar. At least the itching has stopped and the rash has calmed. I’m not sure if it will ever return.
